My name is Karl, and I'm from Southern California. I'm a former football player and engineer. Like many of you, I once pondered some critical questions:

This is my story!
The turning point was whilst working at my engineering job in Southern California. I found myself caught up in the excitement of a Mega Millions lottery jackpot that had swelled to $250 million. I had one of those moments where you ask yourself, “What would I do if I actually won? Where do rich people put all their money?”
I realized that no one would keep $250 million in a simple checking account. Later that day, a commercial for an ING (Orange) trading account caught my eye. Inspired, I decided to open an account.
I made my first trade. Looking at my computer, I decided on Microsoft (MSFT). I bought ONE share at $32, but the $9.99 transaction fee made me realize that to break even, the stock would need to rise to $52—a daunting 62% increase. To lower my cost per share, I bought 10 shares, which meant the stock only needed to reach $34 to break even—a more manageable 6% increase.
That first trade was in 2009 and I have been trading the stock market ever since. From long term investments, to swing trading, day trading and options. I found what worked for me and honed my skills, identifying what worked and what didn’t work. Over the years, I realised that it was not simply about building my technical knowledge and expertise, but also learning to master my mindset – the crucial requirement to maintain discipline to achieve consistent results whilst minimising risk. We would all love the lottery win! But trading, I have learned, is about building good habits, sticking to the rules, not overtrading letting greed get the better of us.
